Photo Album Uploader

Upload your photos to Google Photos straight into albums

Why did we make this?

Google Photos is a great service and allows you to cheaply store all your memories safely and cheaply. And it can do so fully automatically from your mobile device or your computer. But it has a frustrating limitation if you are trying to upload photos which you have already sorted yourself - they could be photos from years ago that you want to upload now, or ones you're moving from another service, or many other reasons. In this case, you are only able to either upload all the items in one shot, and have Google just put the items into your main library, leaving you to sort them into albums again; or you need to upload each album manually. If you have a lot of albums, this could be very time consuming.

This app was written to take the hassle out of creating the albums. It will take your sorted photos and videos, and turn them into new albums on Google Photos.

How does it work?

Very simply:

  • Sort your photos and videos into folders - where each folder is an album you want to create (we assume there's a good chance you've already done that, which is why you're using the app!), and tell the app where they are.

    • In general, this can either be on the device, or an external drive or SD card. See Help for more details.

  • Login to your Google Photos account that you want the albums to be created in.

  • Let the app scan the folders and check the Google Photos account for existing albums.

  • When it's ready, start Uploading your items.

  • That's it! The app will then upload all the items and create the albums for you. You can carry on doing other things and it will let you know when it's finished.

Have a look at the Help pages for more information about how to use it.
